Quantum Summer School with Minecraft is a unique Czech–Bavarian residential summer camp where children aged 12–17 explore quantum technologies through Minecraft, real experiments, team projects and cross-border collaboration with Czech and Bavarian peers.
Quantum Summer School with Minecraft
Quantum physics sounds complicated? In Minecraft, it makes sense.
This unique Czech–Bavarian summer school invites children to playfully immerse themselves in the world of quantum technologies right inside an environment they already know and love. Thanks to our Quantum Academy expansion for Minecraft, participants can explore superposition, quantum measurement and unbreakable quantum communication directly in the game.
There is no boring theory here. Quantum phenomena can be seen, built and programmed with their own eyes. Throughout the week, children take part in experiments, simulations and their own quantum-themed projects.
It is a full residential experience shared side by side with Czech and Bavarian peers. Children make international contacts, overcome language barriers and discover that the future of technology speaks a universal language.
They sleep, eat and explore together – five days, four nights, one adventure.
What Children Will Experience
- Simulating quantum phenomena in Minecraft
- Programming and logic challenges
- Lectures by university experts (ZČU Pilsen and THD Deggendorf)
- Real physical experiments with photons and polarisation
- Team projects across borders
- Sports, games and evening programme
- Digital Badge for Acquired Skills and Quantum Academy Certificate
Cross-Border Exchange
Two camps, one adventure – across the Czech–Bavarian border.
The residential camp in the Czech Republic and the day camp at THD Deggendorf are designed as a pair. Whether a child joins the overnight camp in the Pilsen region or the day programme in Bavaria, they become part of the same programme – the same Minecraft world, the same challenge and the same Friday demo.
A dedicated cross-border day brings the two groups together – either in person during a mutual visit or through a shared Minecraft server. This is where the cross-border promise becomes tangible for participants: new friends, a common project and a week they will remember far beyond the summer.
What This Means for Participants
- Real contact between Czech and Bavarian children, not just parallel events
- A joint project developed across the border – something children built and can show on Friday
- Quantum concepts explained correctly, not dumbed down – led by university researchers from ZČU and THD
- Funded by the EU via Interreg Bayern–Česko – affordable on the CZ side, free on the DE side
Funding and Partners
The summer school is part of the BY-CZ Quantum Academy project (BYCZ10-263), co-financed by the Interreg Bayern–Česko 2021–2027 programme through the European Regional Development Fund.
The project is delivered by a Czech–Bavarian consortium of five partners: ZČU Pilsen, NTC, THD Deggendorf, DMDM and NVIAS.
Logo line placement: Place the logos as a single logo row in the footer of the product page. The EU / Interreg logo should appear first from the left, in line with Interreg Bayern–Česko visibility rules.
